Capstone Show
This collection of pieces explores the stories humanity tells itself. I used a variety of mediums to explore human connections through the past and into the present. My process involved conceptual research into topics such as mortality, human connection, and mental health. I immersed myself in artistic research to determine the styles, mediums, and techniques that best communicated the concepts I explored. I incorporated mixed media and unconventional materials to add texture, depth, and visual interest.
This body of work was influenced by nature, my own lived experiences, and folklore. I placed concepts from myths, folklore, and religion into modern contexts. Myths are how cultures explain the world around them. These stories are important enough to survive until now, so I believe it’s worth considering what they mean to us today.
